The beginning rates back to more than 20 years ago

20 years ago, Caroline Pollastri began to take in the first orphans and children from the street, whom she allowed to live in the house of her deceased grandmother. There were children who wandered around the village, hoping for a donation for a meal. In the evening they sought refuge in the empty market stalls and spent their nights in shop entrances and abandoned cars. They didn’t have access to education, healthcare, adequate food and clothing. Due to poor nutrition and hygiene the children were often weak and ill.

Due to reasons such as death, separation and unemployment of parents, superstition or domestic violence these children didn’t have a permanent home. Originally, it was a matter of tradition in Cameroon that every orphan or abandoned child would be accepted in the larger family or a close circle of friends. This unwritten rule has been lost.
